Social Program - Making the Most of NYC!

Explore New York like a real New Yorker! Our weekly program of activities gives students an insider’s look at this fascinating city. Teacher and staff-led excursions will help you to discover some of New York’s most amazing hidden secrets and treasures.

Of course, no trip to New York would be complete without visiting the city's most famous sites. That’s why our program also includes trips to all of the places that have made New York one of the most photographed cities in the world. Additionally, we arrange tickets for Broadway shows, double-decker bus tours, boat trips on the Hudson River, tours of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the MoMA and much more.

Get to know your classmates. Practice English that you've learned while you're having fun sightseeing in New York. Take advantage of IH New York's Social Program to get out and explore New York. We're happy to arrange your next adventure for you!
Here are some examples of group excursions with IH New York:

• Chelsea and DUMBO Art Gallery Tours – You’ve seen the Met and the MoMA, but the funky, eclectic neighborhoods of Chelsea in Manhattan, and DUMBO in Brooklyn host some of the best art galleries in the city. Our teachers will help you and your classmates to discover them!  
• Ice Skating in Rockefeller Center – This world-famous skating rink has been featured in countless movies and television shows. This is one of our students’ favorite winter excursions.
• Jazz Concerts – New York is known for its distinctive jazz music, and IH New York will help you find some of the best, off-the-beaten-path places to see it. We also help students schedule tickets and passes to some of the most popular jazz festivals in the country.   
• Brooklyn Bridge and Grimaldi’s Pizza walking tour – This iconic bridge is the star of some of the most recognizable postcards and photographs in the world. Experience a pleasant walk over the bridge at sunset, followed by a delicious meal at Grimaldi’s pizza restaurant – favorite of legendary singer Frank Sinatra.  
• Weekly Happy Hour – Every week, the entire school is invited to participate in a happy hour meet-and-greet for new arrival students. This is a great opportunity to practice English, meet new friends, and discover interesting new restaurants and pubs.  

Taking English Classes at IH New York is about more than just studying English - it's about experiencing English, and having fun while doing it!
