IH Excursions and Activities
It is often said, “The best way to learn a language is to go where it is spoken.” At International House, we know this is true. Therefore, we feel it is important for our students to not only study English in the classroom, but to go outside the class to practice and experience English as it is used in real life.
IH New York also knows that busy kids are happy kids, which is why our Summer English Camp includes a full schedule of on-campus activities for our teenagers to take part in outside the English Classroom, which allows them to relax and have fun practicing their English with their newfound camp friends. Summer English Camp activities are all organized and supervised by IH New York Activity Leaders.
In addition to our full schedule of English Classes and on-campus activities, we also organize off-campus excursions to Manhattan and the New York City area 6-7 times a week, which is more than any other Summer English Camp program in New York.
All excursions – afternoon and full-day – are supervised by a staff of trained Activity Leaders and University of Cambridge-qualified teachers who accompany the students to visit a variety of world-famous sights. Our intention is to provide a learning adventure, but with the guidance and supervision of trained and experienced staff.

Our students experience all that New York has to offer on afternoon and evening excursions to any number of the world-famous destinations in the city. Students can take in the view from the top of the Empire State Building, see a world-famous show on Broadway, eat pizza in Little Italy, play Frisbee in Central Park, pose for a photo in Times Square, take a boat ride past the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island where countless millions have followed their dreams to America and they can discover what has led so many to this city for so long.
In addition to our daily afternoon excursions, we offer full-day trips at the weekend, all of which are supervised by our trained staff.
